Scope and Content

The papers comprise:

  • a diary, Apr. 1830-Oct. 1831 with a newspaper cutting, 1851
  • a copy of The Wars of Succession of Portugal and Spain from 1826-40, vol. 1, Portugal, 1832-3 by William Bollaert, F.R.G.S., (1870) annotated by the author and interleaved with related material
  • William MacCoy Fitzgerald Castle, Capt., R.N., Sketch of the City of Iquique during the last fifty years.

Administrative / Biographical History

William Bollaert (1807-76) was a writer, chemist, geographer, and ethnologist.
