Administrative / Biographical History

The Poor Law and Local Government Officers' Mutual Guarantee Association was founded by the National Poor Law Officers' Association in 1890, to assist officials to acquire guarantee bonds. When it expanded its range of business in 1926 its title changed to the Poor Law and Local Government Officers' Mutual Insurance Association. After the merger between the National Poor Law Officers' Association and the National Association of Local Government Officers in 1930, the National Association of Local Government Officers' Provident Society life and endowment assurance business was transferred to the Poor Law and Local Government Officers' Mutual Insurance Association which became the National and Local Government Officers' Insurance Association Ltd.
