Giovanni Cibo's history of Genoa complements Bonfadio's earlier history. The volume contains a Dedication (f.3); a brief history of Genoa from the twelfth century to 1527 (ff.3v-18v); accounts of Genoese families omitted by Bonfadio: Cattanea, Spinula, Furnaria, Gentili, Usus Maris, D'Oria, Nigro, Cicada, Grilla, Marina, Salvaiga, Grimalda, Lercaria, Nigrona, Justiniana, Francha, Imperialis Familia, Lumellina, Calva, Pallavicina, Cybo, Flisca, Interiana, Vivalda, Centuriona, Promontorio, Pinella, and Saula (ff.18v-53v); offices held in Genoa, 1529-49 (ff.53v-56r); brief accounts of famous men of Genoa (ff.56v-65r); and a detailed history of events concerning Genoa, 1550-70 (ff.66r-233v). It is dedicated to Niccolo (son of Ottavio Gentili, elected Doge, 1565), who in 1571 married Virginia, daughter of Paolo Giustiniano Moniglia (elected Doge, 1569), for which occasion the manuscript might have been written. There are 232 folios, with a few loose and pasted insertions.
