Ms letter from Joe Wrigley to David May FRCOG describing his invention of the Wrigley's forceps while at St Thomas' Hospital. The letter is accompanied by a covering letter from Mr May to the RCOG President in February 1994 describing the circumstances under which the letter was written.

Arthur Joseph Wrigley (1904-1984) was educated at St Thomas's Hospital Medical School and practised at St Thomas's, beginning his career as registrar to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and later becoming obstetric physician. He also offered his services to Mount Vernon Hospital, the Grosvenor Hospital, the Lambeth Hospital, and to the London boroughs of Lambeth and Stoke Newington. He was a Fellow of the College and inventor of the short forceps- 'the Wrigley's'.
