- Physical Description16 vols., numbered I and III-XVII, manuscript. Written in several different eighteenth-century hands, one of them probably autograph, with many carefully drawn diagrams or plans on folding pages, and with title pages in calligraphic display script. Bound in contemporary half calf with marbled boards, and spine labels lettered GRUNDY'S ENGINEERING. Each volume bears Lord Brotherton's armorial bookplate.

John Grundy of Spalding (1719-1783), son of John Grundy senior (ca.1696-1748), was an 18th-century civil engineer noted chiefly for his work on the fen drainage and river navigation of eastern England.
