Papers relating to Emyr Owen Price

Comprises a photocopy of a thesis entitled Bangor Typhoid Epidemic of 1882 presented for the degree of M.D. by Dr Emyr Owen Price and photocopies of his obituary notices.

Emyr Owen Price, M.D., 1857 - 1919, was born at Holywell, Flintshire, educated at St Asaph Grammar School, Edinburgh High School and the University of Edinburgh where he graduated in medicine. In 1882 he took over the medical practice of Dr Ellis at Bangor and immediately had to cope with an outbreak of enteric fever in the area. He was appointed medical officer and public vaccinator of the Bangor District and Workhouse and later to the University College of North Wales and the Normal College. He was president of the North Wales branch of the British Medical Association and a member of the Association's advisory committee on national insurance legislation. He was a member of the Bangor City Council and president of Bangor Liberal Association.

Material is arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
