There are ten photographs inserted in the first narrative of members of the party and of the places they visited, which included Srinagar.

Administrative / Biographical History
During June and July 1875 three army officers undertook a hunting expedition in Kashmir. The officers travelled without official passes of the Kashmir Government, and for this reason were 'under a cloud'. They used the pseudonyms Colonel Jones, Major Robinson and General Brown, the last of whom did not complete the journey. The group travelled from Sialkot into the Pir Panjal range, along the Jhelum River, and finished at Murree.
