Miscellaneous collection of theatre programmes; 1980-1990

Scope and Content

The collection comprises chiefly of theatre programmes relating to performances at Nottingham Playhouse Theatre and Nottingham's Theatre Royal, Derby Playhouse, Stratford Upon Avon and assorted London theatres; none have a complete sequence.

Also present are a small number of items providing evidence of visits to the various productions, such as ticket stubs, advertisements for local hotels and attractions, souvenir postcards, etc.

Administrative / Biographical History

Theatre programmes often feature attractive images and glossy photography on the front cover and inside. A biography of the writer or the historical background to the performance of the play may also be included. Information about the theatre is often present, such as the history, administrative structure, sponsors, a detailed list of theatre staff and advertisements for local businesses.

Arrangement

The collection has been organised alphabetically by theatre location, and in date order. It is intended that future miscellaneous theatre programmes may be added in to this collection.
