Address: Illustrated London News, 9 Milford Lane and 198 Strand, London. To Nathaniel Hawthorne. Explaining that Mackay will leave England on 3 October to spend 3-6 months in North America and asking for 'one or two personal introductions'.
Autograph, with signature. Attached to a fly-leaf torn from a copy of Mackay's 'Memoirs of extraordinary popular delusions' vol 1 (1841); the fly-leaf bears the signature of H A [Henry Arthur] Bright.
