Comprises:

  • Deeds and other documents relating to property in the parish of Llansanffraid Glan Conwy and in Llanrwst, Denbighshire, 1835-1841. Also contains explanatory and genealogical material by R. Idloes Owen relating to the Roberts family mentioned in the Llansanffraid Glan Conwy deeds.

  • Photographs relating to Bangor history, 1896-1980's

Administrative / Biographical History

R. Idloes Owen was a native of Bangor, north Wales. He worked as a bank manager in nearby Llanfairfechan and was also an active local historian who collected material and contributed many articles on the history of Bangor to newspapers and other publications including the North Wales Chronicle, Country Quest, Gwynedd Roots, Window on Wales and The Universe. Areas of particular research interest to him were the history of recusancy and non-conformity in north Wales. In his later years, during the 1990's he moved to live with his family in Cheshire, where he died.

Material is arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
