Administrative / Biographical History
The Ashton, Haydock, Bolton, etc., Miners' Trade Union was established in 1882. In 1897 it ceased to exist as an independent trade union and became a district association of the Lancashire and Cheshire Miners' Federation.

Custodial History
The volume of printed minutes of the Ashton, Haydock and Bolton Miners' Trade Union was donated to the Modern Records Centre on the 24th June 1974 in memory of Edward Roberts of Thatto Heath who was employed all his working life Sutton Heath and Lea Green Collieries, St. Helens, Lancashire. It had initially been transferred on temporary loan to the Centre on the 12th June 1974 by A. Campbell, a research assistant in the University of Warwick's Social History department.
