In consideration of an undisclosed sum, Gilbert West of Great Eversden grants to Robert Townsend ('ad capud ville') of Little Eversden eight selions in Eversden field for as long as it takes to produce five crops ('vesturas'). It is further agreed that, after these five crops, Robert shall have a further cropping from any four of the selions he may choose. Indenture, witnessed by Richard Jeke, William Knesale, John Maysey, John Fynor, John le Rede, Richard Wynemer, William Crisp and others Brown round seal: 'bird' motif. Faded. Endorsed in pencil: '40' (amended from '39').
