Administrative / Biographical History
This private bank was founded in 1773 as Pybus, Hyde, Dorset & Cockell. It was based on New Bond Street in London's West End. The business was carried out under several names including Pybus, Call, Marten & Hale in 1810 and Sir W P Call (Bart.) Arnold & Marten in 1827. From 1830 it was known as Call, Marten & Co. In 1865, when the bank's offices were in Old Bond Street, it was absorbed by Herries, Farquhar & Co (est. 1770).
