The United Kingdom Paper Machine Wire Manufacturers' Association was formed on 16 November 1956  . The objects of the association included, "to co-ordinate the policy of the industry with a view to ensuring that it provides a sufficient service to the community", "to consult on behalf of the members with Government departments, the British Standards Institution and other organisations" and "to encourage the use of an efficient and uniform system of costing and to recommend fair and reasonable selling prices based thereon for the United Kingdom". The association was dissolved on 19 January 1960  .
