      1 vol. (75 ff.) Bound in contemporary vellum. Volume is reversed and inverted at f.47. Ff.1v and f.38r are blank. The names Emanuel Gardinerus and Benjamin Pulleyne are amongst jottings on f.1r and f.75v respectively.

Scope and Content

Contents consist largely of anecdotes, jokes and aphorisms; theological and scriptural notes; extracts from sermons (including one delivered at Oxford by William Chillingworth, beginning f.52v) and from books (including Jos de Acosta's "History of the Indies", beginning f.9r); George Wither's poem "Shall I ly wasting in despare" on f.73v. Several items dated, the latest being a reference to the beheading of Christopher Love, August 1651 (f.47r). Apparently in a single hand throughout.
