John Wilkinson was a student of Corpus Christi College Oxford. Sir William Blackstone: born in London, 1723; English jurist; elected the first holder of a Chair (the Vinerian Professorship) of common law at Oxford, 1758; his lectures formed the basis of his influential 'Commentaries on the Laws of England' (4 volumes, 1765-1769), describing the doctrines of English law, which became the basis of university legal education in England and North America; knighted, 1770; died at Wallingford, Oxfordshire, 1780.
