Scope and Content

In order to pay the debts of the late Chester Pern esq of Abington, his executor William Greaves Beaupre Bell of Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, and Pern's brother and heir the Revd John Pern of Gillingham, Dorset, convey for #31 one of Pern's properties in Newnham, Cambridge to David King of Newnham End, present tenant on the property and the highest bidder for the same (see Doc 1864, 1865). Lease (for one year at peppercorn rent) and release of 2 pages signed and sealed by Bell (as 'William Greaves BB') and John Pern, and witnessed by John Lane, William Capstack (snr, of Clifford's Inn) and William Capstack (jnr), duty stamps. Release endorsed with receipt for consideration money, same date, signed by Bell, witnessed by the Capstacks. Form of indenture supplied by David Anthony of Cursitor St, stationer.
