Also manuscript notebooks by (then) Captain Reader on subjects studied including physics and pure mathematics; Red Cross envelope sent by the University of London. Also includes examination papers hand-written by Captain Reader.

R. W. Reader won the Whitworth prize in 1935. He trained as an engineer. During the Second World War, he was held in the Oflag VII B prisoner of war camp.
