Minutes of the Executive Council and General Meetings, 1910-70; minutes of the Executive Committee's AGMs (internal series) and various other committees, 1937-69; committee minutes relating to the Development Council for the Clothing Industry, 1947-66; committee minutes relating to industrial relations, 1936-70; committee minutes relating to the Second World War, 1939-52; committee minutes relating to Trade Terms, 1927-54; and correspondence, 1921-34.

The collection forms part of the archive of the British Clothing Industry Association (MSS.222), in which the records of various predecessor and related organisations are contained.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Federation was founded in 1910 as the Wholesale Clothing Manufacturers' Federation of Great Britain and Ireland in response to the Trade Boards Act of 1909. The title Clothing Manufacturers' Federation of Great Britain Ltd was adopted in 1969.
