Ethel W. Baker Collection

The collection consists mostly of poetry and prose of Ethel Winifred Baker - for the most part, this is undated manuscript poetry, although there are also short stories, plays, novels, and a talk given at the Folk House, Bristol. There is also a small amount of correspondence with her publishers.

Ethel Winifred Baker lived in Bristol, attended Clifton High School, and remained active in the Old Girls' Society. She wrote plays, novels, and poetry, including "Dowry Square" (1936), "Rose of the Spirit: Unison Song" (1931), and "Penelope", (1939). Ethel Baker died in Bristol in February 1941, and was buried at St. Andrews' Church, Clifton - now Church Walk.
