Scope and Content

Confirmation of a grant by King John to the church of St Benedict at Ramsey, and to the monks there, of sixty acres to be assarted in their osier bed ['in riffleto suo'] in Hirstingestanhundred' [Hurstingstone, Huntingdonshire], together with further assarts for which they have charters from King Richard or from himself, quit of survey, and other assarts on their land, with further confirmation of all rights previously granted to them within the banlieu of their abbey, the bounds of which are given. At Worcester, by the hand of Hugh de Well', archdeacon of Well', and witnessed by William earl of Warenne, William earl of Arundel, S[aher] earl of Winchester, W earl of Ferrar', Roger de Mortuo Mari, [torn] Lalcy, William Briwerr', Hugh de Nevill, Thomas de Sanford, Simon de Pateshill, and James de Pot'na.
