Administrative / Biographical History
This private bank was founded in 1819 as Bromage, Snead & Co and was later known as Bromage & Co. It was otherwise known as the Monmouth Bank. It was connected with Bromage, Snead & Snead (est. 1827) of Chepstow which failed in 1866. In 1894 it was acquired by Lloyds.
