Scope and Content

Administrative / Biographical History

The function of the Senate according to the Supplemental Charter, clause 15:

There shall be a Senate of the University consisting of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the Deans of all the Faculties, all the Professors of the University and such other persons as may be prescribed by the Statutes, which, subject to the control by the Council as prescribed by the statutes, shall regulate, and superintend the education and discipline of undergraduates and other students of the University. Statutes of the University shall prescribe and regulate the powers and duties of the Senate and all other matters relating to the Senate which it may be thought are proper to be so prescribed and regulated.

The powers and duties of the Senate are outlined in clause 25 of the Ordinances in the University Calendar.
