Abersychan Iron Works colliers' paybooks, 1871-1882.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1852 the Ebbw Vale Steel, Iron and Coal Company acquired the New British Iron Company's works at Abersychan, Monmouthshire. Coal was mined at the Cwmsychan and Cwmnantddu pits to provide fuel for the steel and ironworks. By 1876, the works had closed.
