Administrative / Biographical History

The CBU was formed in 1980 by the merger of the members of the Confederation of Bank Staff Associations (the staff associations of Barclays, Lloyds and National Westminster banks). After the clearing banks had ended central negotiation for recruitment grades, the CBU was dissolved on 30th April 1988.

Acquisition Information

These records were deposited in the Centre in 2007 by the former general secretary of CBU, who had retained them to complete the winding up of the union.
