Administrative / Biographical History
The Institute for Learning (IfL) was the first professional body for teachers and trainers working in the further education (FE) and skills sector. IfL has existed since 2002, and closed in autumn 2014 with much of its legacy being transferred to the Education and Training Foundation (www.et-foundation.co.uk). They led a a successful campaign for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status to be recognised in law as equal to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for teaching in schools and championed CPD (continuing professional development).
