Includes press statements, publications, 1969-1979, information on Cabora-Bassa Dam in Mozambique; miscellaneous correspondence 1970-1980; 14 items on official and unofficial reports which concern with Rhodesia's sequence of events such as her relations with Britain, Rhodesian standpoint and political trends, sanctions, censorship, terrorism, links with Zambia by 1971 etc and report on the General Election of Zimbabwe/Rhodesia in April 1979 as well as information on the 1974 Survey of South West Africa (Namibia); pamphlets, booklets etc on politics and liberation movements 1970-1979; unsorted or unsortable material on Rhodesia, South Africa and southern Africa - correspondence, publications, memos, administrative and historical papers.

Administrative / Biographical History

Rt. Hon. Col. Francis Vernons Willey, 2nd Baron Barnby was a partner in the firm of Francis Willey & Co. Ltd, textile manufacturers, which had business interests in South Africa. Having served as Coalition Unionist MP for Bradford (1918-1922), he later became active in the House of Lords, on the Conservative benches. He had a keen interest in politics in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), which took him on visits to the area.
