Girolamo Lupi, caudatorio or train-bearer to the Cardinals at the Vatican, compiled this manual describing many ceremonial details observed at the Papal courts, in the mid-17th century. It was probably a fair copy to be given to new caudatori. Consists of 1 volume, in a contemporary limp vellum binding, Il Caudatorio... opera non men utile, e curiosa, che necessario à Cortegiani, et à Gentilhuomini che seanno nella Corte di Roma...; vestments of Cardinals and train-bearers for festivals of the year; ritual of specific masses and Papal courts; altar vessels, books for which train-bearers are responsible during mass; loose sheets at end, including privileges of Cardinals according to Cardinal Brancacci.
