The volume is written in 'C & J Penny's London Almanack & Diary' for 1882. It is written in ink by a farmer's wife living and working in Herefordshire. Entries largely cover the day to day business of running a farm and buying and selling animals. The diary provides an insight into rural life at the end of the nineteenth century.
