Administrative / Biographical History

The Whitley Council for New Towns Staff was established 20 January 1955. The Local Authorities' Conditions of Service Advisory Board (LACSAB) (succeeded by the Local Government Management Board, the depositor of these records, in 1991) co-ordinated the activities of the employers' sides of this and the other local authority employer/staff negotiating bodies and provided its secretariat.
