This collection comprises the personal papers, such as national identity cards, military service records, trade union membership cards, rent books and long service certificates awarded by Samuel Williams and Sons Ltd, of various members of the Pool and Behan families, including James John Pool (1919-1969), Mrs Rose Elizabeth Pool (1945-1959), Micheal Behan (1937-1949) and Mabel Behan (1946-1974), together with photographs of the following: family weddings, no. 1-36 (circa. 1920-1960), Dagenham Dock Club Pensioner's Night, no. 37-88 (circa. 1960), the family during the First World War, no. 89-90 (1914-1918), the family during the Second World War, no. 91-101 (1939-1945), portraits of family members, no. 102-105 (circa. 1920-1930), girl guides, no. 106-120 (circa. 1940-1950), portraits of family members, no. 191-144 (circa. 1930-1950), male and female factory workers, no. 145-156 (circa. 1930-1950), portraits of family members, no. 157-158 (circa. 1900-1910), the family at home, possibly at Oxlow Lane, Dagenham, 159-217 (circa. 1940-1960), first communion, no. 218-220 (circa. 1950), group shots of the family, no. 221-227 (circa. 1940-1960), football team of the Dagenham Dock Club, no. 228-229 (1951-1952), navy cadets in training (circa. 230-237), the family on holiday, no. 238-272 (circa. 1930-1950), a party for the Royal Wedding, no. 274-275 (1981), and a christening, no. 276-277 (circa. 1970s).

John James Pool (fl. 1899-1970) lived with his family at 293 Oxlow Lane, Dagenham. He worked for Samuel Williams & Sons from 1913 until 1963.
