Scope and Content

The collection contains prints of engravings by Margaret Bryan. The prints survive in varioussizes and mountings, some of which bear identifying marks and addresses on the back. The subjectsare: 'The Three Witches "Macbeth" 5/20' (MS 440/1); 'Fisherman 7/31' (MS 440/2); 'People watching astorm 7/20' (MS 440/3); 'Buildings and wasteland 1/12' (MS 440/4); 'Puppet 2/20' (MS 440/5); 'TheThree Witches "Macbeth" 5/20' (MS 440/6); 'Horse and Rider 2/12' (MS 440/7); 'The Agony in theGarden 1/50' (MS 440/8); untitled image of two people dancing (MS 440/9); 'Rainy Evening 2/12' (MS440/10); 'Three Masks 5/20' (MS 440/11); 'Actor and Masks 8/20' (MS 440/12); 'The Flight into Egypt6/20' (MS 440/13); 'The Deluge (detail) 5/21' (MS 440/14); 'Decorative Figure from the ceiling ofthe Sistine Chapel' after Michelangelo (MS 440/15); and 'The Crucifixion' 1/30 after El Greco (MS440/16). The date and history of the work is unknown.

Margaret Bryan was an engraver who at times lived in Castle Road and Lucknow Avenue, MapperleyPark, Nottingham.
