Letters of R.A. Jones of Liverpool

Scope and Content

Comprises letters to R.A. Jones on various subjects including education, the land question and agitation, politics, with business letters from Messrs Hughes and Son, Wrexham relating to the publication, sale and royalties etc. of his book on the land question. Other correspondents include William Edwards and Henry Jones, candidates for the office of Principal of the University College of North Wales and Stuart Rendel, later President of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Administrative / Biographical History

Robert Albert Jones of Liverpool was a barrister and gifted mathematician. His great interests were politics, the land question and education. He is the author of The land question and a land bill with special reference to Wales (1887). His lifelong association with the University College of North Wales, Bangor was commemorated with a college prize for mathematics in his name following his death in 1892 at the age of forty-one.
