Administrative / Biographical History

The Constitution of the Midland Bolt, Nut, Screw and Rivet Employers' Association was adopted on 11 May 1941 and the first meeting of the Management Board took place on 16 June 1942. The Association was established in the face of increasing Union activity during the Second World War. Although a number of Trade Associations did exist, there was no fully representative body to deal with wages and working conditions. In 1977 the Association became a section within the Engineering Employers' West Midlands Association, the largest of the thirteen regional Associations affiliated to the Engineering Employers' Federation.
