Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
During the Second World War, arrangements were made by people in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area of Merionethshire, north Wales to welcome 200 refugees and accommodate them with local householders as part of the government evacuation scheme. This scheme was supported by local groups including the Blaenau Women's Institute, Garreg-ddu Calvinistic Methodist Vestry, Tanygrisiau and Manod council schools. One of the project's main organisers was Mrs K. Jones Roberts, a justice of peace and prominent citizen locally.
