Law Reading on Statutes relating to Forests

Scope and Content

MS, paper, in a neat secretary hand, 76pp. The MS is bound in two vellum leaves from a 13th century MS of Genesis (Genesis 24 vv.36-48, 25 v.34 - 26 v.10), glossed with commentary from Walafrid Strabo, Glossa Ordinaria. [1] Incomplete charge to jurors or justices of the peace. [2] Incomplete copy of Lord Stafford's translation of George Treherne's reading on statutes relating to forests, made in c.1600, incomplete. There is also an accompanying letter from R. Flower, British Museum Department of Manuscripts, to Lord Powis, 16 June 1931, providing a description of the MS and describing 6 copies held in the British Museum, including Harley MSS. 72 and 1126; Add. MSS. 25254 and 36114; Hargrave MS. 50; and Stowe MS. 414.
