Scope and Content

This collection contains: minutes and related records, 1866-1945; secretary's annual reports, 1878-1941; journal of income and expenditure, 1912-1960; verbatim proceedings of conference between representatives of employers and employed and the Ministry of Munitions, 1918.

Administrative / Biographical History

This association was formed in 1866. In December 1938 it changed its name to the Iron and Steel Trades Employers' Association, North East Coast Blastfurnace and Coke Oven Section, but it seems to have continued functioning as an autonomous body.
