Miscellaneous papers relating to Salonika, compiled probably by Peter Liddle

Scope and Content

Boxes 1-2 (Items 1-36) contain mainly individual items and documents (or copies of either) for which complete records have not been created. Boxes 3-4 contain miscellaneous papers relating to entertainment, including theatre and concert programmes, music sheets, scripts, verse, advertisements, poems, Christmas cards and whist programmes. Box 5 contains ca. 30 maps and sketches. Box 6 contains editions of the Salonika Reunion Association journal "The Mosquito", Nos. 115, 120, 135-164 (September 1956-December 1968), and "Salonika Memories, 1915-1919", a souvenir compilation from past issues of "The Mosquito" (May 1969). Box 7 contains photocopied papers from the Public Record Office, including material relating to the organisation of the Salonika force, Salonika harbour, Army hospitals, prisons, intelligence, cookery, rest camps, POW (Prisoner of War) camps, the postal department, pay, malaria, sanitation, dentistry, canteens, graves, training schools, workshops, medical stores and field ambulances.
