The Council was established during World War II with the aim of fully mobilising workers in these industries for maximum production as a contribution to the war effort.

Acquisition Information
The records with references prefixed MSS.79 were received from the Manufacturing, Science, Finance (MSF) trade union in December 1988. The publications with references prefixed MSS.497 were transferred from Warwick University Library in May 2003.
