LETTER: David Maxwell Fyfe, Home Office, Whitehall to the chairman, Anglesey County Council conveying the Queen's thanks to himself and members of the council for the congratulations of the inhabitants of Anglesey on her accession to the throne.

Administrative / Biographical History

Queen Elizabeth II was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth became head of the Commonwealth and queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon.
