Administrative / Biographical History

The Society of Civil Servants (Executive, Directing and Analagous Grades) was formed in 1930 with the amalgamation of the Society of Civil Servants with the Association of Executive Officers and other Civil Servants. In 1976 it adopted the title of the Society of Civil and Public Servants. On 1 January 1988 it merged with the Civil Service Union to form the National Union of Civil and Public Servants.

Acquisition Information

Records with references beginning MSS.232 were deposited by the Society of Civil and Public Servants. Records with references beginning MSS.415 were deposited by the Public and Commercial Services Union. Records with references beginning 612 were deposited by Mr Frank Liddiard, former SCPS chairman.
