This collection contains: circulated minutes and papers of CPSA departmental sections and regional assemblies,1971-1985; records concerning 'Redder Tape' (CPSA rank and file journal) and the CPSA Broad Left, 1970s-1982; various CPSA-related records, 1976-1985; CPSA branch magazines, 1975-1981; various, mainly left-wing, campaign material, 1960s-1982; Civil Service Whitley Council Staff Side /Council of Civil Service Unions records, 1978-1985'; local Labour Party records (areas where Jacobs lived), 1960s-1980s; 'World Marxist Review', 1972-1977.

Administrative / Biographical History

Norman Jacobs was a member of the Civil and Public Services Association national executive committee and of its British Museum branch. He was also involved in left-wing campaign groups within the union.

The papers were deposited with the Centre by Norman Jacobs in 1979, 1983 and 1985.
