This collection also contains records of or relating to the Social Research Form, the United Kingdom Evaluation Society and the Social Research Association.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Association was formed in 1982 in response to the perceived threat to the social sciences posed by the cuts to the budget of the Social Science Research Council made by the then Secretary of State for Education, Sir Keith Joseph. It was succeeded in 1999 by the Academy of Social Sciences.
