Scope and Content

3 volumes of diaries ranging from 1880-1893 and a notebook used by John Hughes and containing, amongst other things, notes of lectures delivered at Bala Theological College. Also, comprehensive notes made by a W.P. J. of Denbighshire of a sermon delivered by John Hughes in Liverpool in 1890.

Administrative / Biographical History

Rev. John Hughes of Llannerch-y-medd, Anglesey; Liverpool and Caernarfon, Gwynedd was one of the boldest thinkers of the Methodist movement and one of the most refined preachers of his age. He died in 1893.
