Administrative / Biographical History
Archibald Allan (1852-1924) was the minister of Channelkirk, in the Presbytery of Lauder [or Earlston], from 1891. He was born in Donibristle village, Aberdour, Fife, on 14 February 1852, the son of Alexander Allan and Jean Bowman. He was educated at Donibristle School and at the University of St Andrews. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Dunfermline on 1 May 1889 and ordained to the parish of Channelkirk on 23 December 1891. On 6 October 1897 he married Jean Kyd (d 1929), eldest daughter of Sinclair Christie and Mary Key Mackay, Dundee. He died in Edinburgh on 29 October 1924.
