Administrative / Biographical History

Andrew Lawrie Porte was born in 1931  in Ayr, Scotland. He started at the University of Glasgow in 1949  studying Chemistry, Natural Philosophy, Mathematics, Physiology and Biochemistry. He graduated Bachelor of Science in 1953  , PhD in 1959  and went onto a career as a lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in 1961  , later becoming a Reader specialising in magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
