Administrative / Biographical History

The Council of Church and Associated Colleges of Higher Education (CCAC) was constituted on the 1st November 1988 at the eleventh and final Annual Conference of the Association of Voluntary Colleges (AVC) and the Inaugural Meeting of the CCAC.

The Constitution states that the object of the CCAC is to advance and develop public education in the Church and Associated Colleges. The powers to do this included communicating with and formulating recommendations to the funding council, as well as supporting Principals and Governing bodies.

The name changed from CCAC to the Council of Church Colleges (CCC) at the AGM in November 2000. The name changed from CCC to Council of Church Colleges and Universities at the AGM in November 2002.
