Diaries as a medical officer in Uganda. Photocopied manuscript.

Lieutenant Colonel Aubrey Dallas Percival Hodges (1861-1946) was educated at Epsom College and London Hospital.

In 1908 he was appointed to the post of Principal Medical Officer in the Uganda Protectorate (1908-1918). He remained in Uganda during the First World War, serving as Lieutenant Colonel commanding the Uganda Medical Service and as Assistant Director of Medical Services for Uganda (1914-1918, mentioned in despatches).

When Hodges returned to England he held the posts of Assistant Resident Medical Officer at the South-East Fever Hospital in New Cross; House Physician, House Surgeon and Resident Accoucheur at London Hospital; and Medical Officer in charge of an investigation into sleeping sickness.

Hodges was awarded the Sudanese Mutiny medal (1898) and the CMG (1910) and was also a fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Health and the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
