This private bank was established as Mellersh, Moline & Weale in 1808 by John Mellersh, solicitor, Robert Moline, grocer and corn dealer, and James Weale, mercer and linen draper. It was otherwise known as the Godalming Bank. From 1822 all partners were drawn from the Mellersh family. Capital & Counties Bank (est. 1877) acquired the business in 1893.
