Administrative / Biographical History

Wallis and Steevens Ltd were established in the 1840's in Hampshire. The firm began trading in the mid nineteenth century as agricultural implement maker and dealers. During the 1860's they moved into agricultural steam engineering, producing portable steam engines and thrashing machines. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries they specialised in self-moving steam engines, including traction engines, steam tractors, road rollers and steam wagons. From the 1920's onwards the firm were mainly steam and motor road roller makers, and agricultural machinery dealers.
